Years: 1875-1878
The short-lived 20¢ piece was created in 1875. However, the coin was a huge flop, since it was about the same size of a quarter and shared the Seated Liberty design with its 25¢ counterpart. Transactions were jeopardized by these similarities, so only 1 year later, in 1876, the U.S. Mint stopped making circulating examples of the 20¢ piece. Proof examples were continued to be struck until 1878.
